Some tips for taking great shots

  • Remember we are looking for people in the landscape, we don’t just want a group of your friends or a beautiful landscape.
  • Think about how the people are connecting to the landscape.
  • The people don’t need to be the main focus – they might be riding cycles over a hill in the distance or walking away from the camera in a family group.
  • Perhaps include something in the foreground, the middle ground and the distance to create interest and give your photo some depth.
  • Think about different viewpoints – maybe low on the ground or from a high viewpoint.
  • It is interesting to see familiar landmarks from a different perspectives.
  • Try and capture what it is you appreciate about being outdoors.
  • Don’t forget to take your camera out early in the morning or late in the evening to get more variety with lighting.
