Management Plan Review

Fill out a short online survey

The North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will shortly be reviewing the current Management Plan (2009-14).

AONB Management Plan

Preparation of an AONB Management Plan is a statutory requirement placed upon local authorities by the CRoW Act 2000, with a review required every five years.

A Management Plan presents an agreed agenda for the North Wessex Downs, setting out objectives and policies for the team and all our partners that are believed to be realistic and achievable in the next five years. Working together, the partners can realise these targets to the benefit of the landscapes and communities of this nationally designated area.

The current plan can be found in the 'About Us' section, or by clicking the image on the right.

We wish to give you the opportunity to contribute to the review and suggest any amendments that you wish to see included in the draft Management Plan for 2014-19.

We have set up an online survey for you to do so using a tool called Survey Monkey. There are eight questions in total addressing changes to structure and presentation, policies and actions and any other relevant information you would like to provide. You can choose to submit your comments anonymously. However including contact details will be helpful in case we need to clarify any comments or suggestions - your details will not be shared.

The closing date for responses is the 1st June 2013.

Comments received will be discussed with partners and used to inform the new draft, which will then be available for consultation by partners and the public later in the year. Once a final version is agreed, it will then be adopted by statutory and local authority partners before being submitted to the Secretary of State for approval.

For further information about the Management Plan Review process or to discuss your comments further, please contact the acting Assistant Director, Oliver Cripps by email: or telephone: 01488 685440.
