22 November 2006Landmark meeting on the bridge - For the first time, on Friday November 17th, members of the managing bodies of the Chilterns and North Wessex Downs Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs), and their senior staff, met on their shared border at Goring-on-Thames. 24 October 2006Vote for the River Kennet on ITV People's Millions - 15 November. Action for the River Kennet (ARK) is through to the final short-list of projects to receive Lottery funding in the People's Millions programme. Watch the ITV 6pm News on 15 November and vote to Reclaim our River. The ARK project will restore the River Kennet for more wildlife and people to enjoy. You can take part in the filming for the television programme on 31 October (10am - 12noon) at Priory Gardens, Marlborough.

The North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty fills the window at Newbury Tourist Information Centre in The Wharf from October 10 - 31.
15 September 2006Europarc 2006 Field Trips in the North Wessex Downs
A1 ii) Visit the Lockinge Estate, Wantage to find out how businesses and services integrate successfully with the local village community and the farmed estate.
A3 i) Making the protected landscape relevant for people living in the Urban Fringe of Swindon. Great Western Community Forest leads the field trip to look at how conflicts can be managed and opportunities identified.
B1 ii) Walking the Ridgeway National Trail to the White Horse of Uffington with the National Trust to find out how visitors using recreational trails and local facilities support the local economy.
C1 ii) Visit to Little Wittenham and Hill Farm in the Northmoor Trust to see how, through practical demonstration, research and education, sustainable land management issues are explored.
C3 i) The World Heritage Site of Avebury holds spiritual and cultural values that attract millions of visitors a year. This field trip looks at the effect of the landscape on people's relationships with nature.
